A fixed gear or a single speed bike is a bicycle that does not have gears, i.e. a single speed bike. A fixed gear is a bike that is designed to ride on a track, it does not have a freewheel and requires constant turning (turning the pedals is consistent with the rotation of the rear wheel – regardless of whether we are turning forward or backward). From the 1980s, these bikes began to appear in cities thanks to bicycle couriers. Fixed gear is basically a minimalist bike – there is only what is necessary to make a bike a bike.
Our fixed gear bikes are mainly made of Columbus Cromor tubes with carbon forks and DEDA, Miche, Shimano, Novatec, Continental components. In fixie bikes, it is worth installing a flip-flop hub in the rear wheel (which, by turning the wheel, allows you to change the gear ratio or even the drive from fixed gear to single speed). Fixies often don’t have brakes – we stop the bike with our own muscles by creating a “counterweight” to the momentum. Is it legal – no, but no risk, no fun.
The single speed bike, just like a fixed gear, is a single-speed bike, but it has a freewheel, i.e. the crank and the rear wheel are not “integrated” permanently and when going downhill, we can let go of spinning: ) Single speed is an ideal, simple and very light bike for the city, which allows you to move quickly.
In our single speed projects, we very often replace the traditional bicycle chain with a Gates Carbon Drive belt. Thanks to this, you become a bicycle ninja, and the traditional inconveniences (tension, lubrication, rusting in winter) with a single speed chain are a thing of the past.
We also design and manufacture frames and frame sets for fixed gear and single speed.
